Suspension Install - 06 Apex GT into Viper?

check out the tech pages for a great writeup on the mono install in the sx chassis. The GT mono has the EC shock which will require the optional external control module to adjust. you may be better selling that shock and going with the standard mono shock the mechanical adjuster. There's another member that added this to an srx but I believe he added electric start as well. Do a search for srx and mono.

i have a 06 apex er and its a nice ride but if your going to ride it hard (which i dont bad back) they seem to fall apart, the front arms destruct like w arms on the srx do, the paint sucks, lots of rust and they say they wear out hyfax but i havent had a problem

I have the mono in an 06 apex rtx. i weigh 240 with my gear on. i beat the crap out of my sled and i honestly love the mono suspension. i think they require a lot of attention but i think the ride is well worth it.
few things to take into consideration.
This is not a big bump or jump type of suspension. you will break things if you abuse it.
Bushings wear out fast on this skid. i replace mine every season
Original bogie wheels are crap and will fail on you. replace them if they are original.
Monoshock control cable has a tendency to get torn apart. after breaking 3 I set mine where i liked it and disconnected the cable.
If you weigh more than 180 and ride aggressive you will want to get rid of the stock spring and put in a heavier spring. also at that time get the shock revalved for your weight and riding style. pioneer performance did mine and i am happy with the ride but i hear that hygear is a better set up. shock set up is critical to ride quality and suspension life. if you bottom often stuff is going to break!!
The track has a tendency to hit the upper mount of the shock and wear pretty bad. Ulmer has a fix for it
Slides wear to a certain point then stay there. i have 2000 on a set of slides in low snow and icy conditions never ever been a issue. People see they are thin and panic.
You will see a lot of guys complaining that it is a weak suspension. I feel that when set up properly it works as good as anything out there it just requires a lot of attention/maintenance
