Hey I got a 944 Union Bay engine. How many other guys on here are running big bores and what are your setups? Just wondering what you had to change to compensate for the increase in horsepower, clutching, carbs, suspension, weight reduction etc.. Any other 944's out there? :2strokes:

I have 944 its being bored out to 40 over right now the bores were egg shaped by union bay right before they sold out.when i first got it it would seize up at the top of a long pull.so i sent it back and they replaced one cyl and bored it first over it ran good for two seasons about 6000 miles then cracked skirts failed on two cyls.what pipes are you running mine came from richard in canada they made the most power of the 4 sets i tried.also run a boost bottle with 40 mm carbs hammertime weights spinning at 9000.its a mm with a 151 camoplast 2in also a 780 srx a 700 mm a 700 srx stock srxdude1

I am also running Richard Swensons pipes, stock carbs, polaris primary, team secondary, v-froce reeds and spacer, 159 track. The sled was new to me this fall that past owner only ran it to 8,000 rpm he had a bad tach and didn't know it. I couldn't get the team to back shift this year could pull 9,000 on the flats but only 8 when climbing so I went back to the stock secondary with a shockwave helix. Didn't get to run the new clutch set up this spring though. What jetting are you running and at what elevations with those carbs. I have a set of 38 round slides and home and a set of 40's would it be worth it for me to swap it over?

What kind of horsepower numbers are you talking with the 944? What type of fuel are you running? :bump:

The 944 is to be around 195hp @ 9,00RPM and 115 ft*lb @ 8800RPM with the pipes I have on it. I have been running 50/50 Renegade 110 and 92 just to be safe. Although I am fairly sure it would be just fine running on straight 92.
