Know i know this will make me look stupid after i get the answer but i cannot find the drain plug on my 2002 viper chain case. I know where it should be but i just dont see it. I'm to this step in changing out the track. Also when putting it back together do i need to do anything special to the gasket? Thanks again guys, chris.

Give it a reach around and you'll find a 12mm bolt on the inside of the tunnel. If you look from opposite side you will/should see it.

The chaincase drain bolt is up inside the tunnel, near the drivers. It's either a 10mm or 12mm bolt...can't remember which.
The gasket is just a rubber seal, and are reuseable.

Pull the cover. Just so you can check everything for wear and tear inside. Very easy and as valin said the rubber gasket is re-usable.

Thinking about doing this on my 03 Viper... do you need to remove anything or can you get at the chaincase as is?

I don't know about a viper, but on my srx just the pipes and can need to come off.
I like to pull the cover at least once a year to check everything over.

I got at it just fine removing the can. Its till tight as you know. Theirs just know room to work in there. I still love how my 96 vmaxx sides drop down.

On my viper I just need to remove some springs for the pipe, then I can take off the chaincase cover. Piece of cake.
