I was looking over some auctions for bikes(R1's) and saw one that I'd dearly love to have and while reading the ad it stated that there was no reserve on the bike yet the bidding starts at $8700.Hmmm sounds like a reserve to me in not so many words.
It should state "no hidden reserve"...........

I love it when a seller proudly proclaims, "No Reserve!" and then sets the initial price really high.

All he's saying is that he won't sell it for less than that. I do that every time I put something on ebay. It really irritates me when I bid up an auction just to have it not sold because it never met the reserve. So in short, yeah, it has a reserve, which is set at his starting bid. It really shouldn't be a problem unless the starting bid is more than what the bike is really worth.
If it doesn't sell, offer him something a little lower. Maybe he'll take it.
