I just finished doing the reed notch mod and cleaning my carbs. As I was cleaning the carbs I looked at my float height and they were a little off according to the tech pages. I adjusted them to approx. 14 mm. from 12 mm. What exactly does this do? Did I just increase or decrease the fuel level of the bowl? Does setting it to 14 mm make the sled run better or get rid of the loading up I've been getting around 5000rpm? I was hoping the reed notch would take care of this, but I'm wondering what the float height will cure if anything.

increasing the setting will lower the floats , thus lowering the fuel level.

thanks mm. I did a bit more research and found that lowering the fuel level will also lean out your jetting throughout the entire range since there is less fuel in the bowl to be picked up. How true this is we will see. I'm still within yamaha's specs so I don't think I'll have to worry about a burndown. Again I hope this helps with the stumble at 5000 rpms.
