96 Vmax primary sheave bolt sheared

Messed up bad. In a hurry i set my torque wrench in ft lb instead of m. Well needless to say i sheared of my primary bolt. Cant believe i did this, was just finnishing up to put it away for summer after cleaning and going through clutches. So what do i need to do to fix this. My first thought is to cut down clutch puller enough to thread and pop clutch off. Then i havent a clue. Can this be drilled and retaped or i'm i looking at a dealer for help.

What sheared off the head of the bolt? If so i believe the clutch would come off still if you use a jaw type puller? Might be hard to do with the motor in, but the sides come off on that sled so you should have room. The clutch shouldn't be on with a lot of pressure if it was just installed. After that I'm not sure how you would get the bolt out of the crank? If there is enough threads left I suggest 2 nuts tightened against eachother (try to find thin nuts) and try to back it out. You may need something to hold the crank still.
 
Sheared the bolt off at the threads, I cant really see how much of the bolt is left in but it looks flush with the crank. There has to be a way, i am sure i'm not the first to do this. I want to get the primary off without messing up the bolt inside any more than it is just in case i can use a easyout. Its a fresh install so it shouldnt be on that bad.
 
I'm surprised no one has suggested to pack the orfice with grease and use a bolt that is the same size as a clutch removal tool and use hydraulics to remove the clutch. After the clutch is off you may want to try and used a left handed(NO JOKE) drill bit and drill the rest of the bolt, usually when you get almost all of the way through the bolt the drill bit will grab and back the remainder of the bolt out. And last but not least make sure you clean you primary clutch well to remove any grease. T

drill a hole in the bolt, tap a thread the oposite direction of the threads on the original bolt. Take new bolt, tighten into new thread to snug it up then start cranking it. should twist the old bolt out no problem. this has worked for me in a few spots. usually small bolts I break but the mechanics are the same.

Agreed. You may have to tape the threads of the bolt you use (or cut down an existing puller) so the grease doesn't oze past the threads.

Once the clutch is off, try using a pointed punch to tap/turn the broken bolt out or grind a slot into the broken end and use a flat blade screwdriver. You may not have enough room for a drill (or use a right angle drill) but if so, the left handed bit will work as Bandit suggests.

step one done, primary off. grease trick worked great. did have to cut puller down, could not find a bolt that size anywhere. step 2 getting bolt out. i may have just enough thread showing to get a pair of vise grips on it. if not on to the next trick!!
 
well it must be my lucky day got it out with the trusty vise grips. thanks to reg cleanings that bolt was not in tight at all. just cost me a oem puller and a new bolt. lesson learned, always take your time and double check. thanks for the help again guys. chris
