What does a complete drop-in Readhead engine weigh? Just the engine and carbs, no drive sheaves or clutchs please. Rough guess is fine. Does it take a linebacker to carry one or is a hockey player ok (couldn't help myself)?
i know just the bottom end ,just crank and cases of a srx is 61 pounds ,,,so i would say a full dress motor is probaly around 125

It's been awhile since I rebuilt my motor, but my 600 redhead didn't feel like it weighed much more than a hundred pounds. That's without the clutch and carbs, but I'm guessing I'm a little on the light side of the guess.
I've got one sitting on my workbench that I just finished rebuilding. If I remember and get some time I'll weigh it and see what I get.
The motor weighs about 78-79lbs. This is with spark plugs, motor mounts, Y-pipe and NO recoil on it. Also no fluids in it.
The carbs themselves weigh 5lbs again with no fluids.
