Center shock position

I have a 2000 SXr 700. Does it matter which way the center shock is installed.
Adjuster up or in the down position.

if the shock is cam adjust, adjuster goes down. if they are thread adjust, nitrogen valve goes up and faces forward.

Center Shock

In the shop manual & on yamaha's web site it shows that the threaded
end is down. Is this right or wrong.

On my 97 SX the threaded end is down.
