guys how do I get the plastic buttons off my stock yami primary clutch? I'm rebuilding it but can't figure this one out as stupid as that may seem. Do I have to pull the shaeve off and them press it back on?

You have to pull the clutch off of the crank than take the cover off (6 bolts) then using a grunt tool unscrew the spider. While you have the clutch apart it is probably time to change the bushings. Remember when you put the spider back in to line up the "X" on both the spider & the sliding sheave.
If I were you I would invest in a shop manual and read it over before I started, you could probably down load one from this site.

I bought a pro service manual from Ebay. I wasn't sure you twisted the spider off or pulled it, I cleaned all the old belt dust off and have a way better view of it. Good thing I did this the rollers and bushings are bad, the plastic slides on the spider can be moved about between 1/16 and 1/8" sideways so I assume it's a good thing I'm changing them. Nothing that sloppy can be good at 8000rpm. Now to the elbow grease and tugging to get the spider off.
you can also put shims in them if they are wore down to much, but you must put a shim on each arm TIP if you have it a part a good way to clean them up is to bead blast them i do that all the time

you actually unthread/unscrew the fixed sheave and not the spyder. remember the threads are reverse, so CCW tightens and CW loosens. once the fixed sheave is off, you can slide the movable sheave off and then just pull those plastic sliding buttons off the roll pins.

You better check the shop manual also.
The fixed sheave is clamped in a jig (or anything to stop it from moving). The clutch cover is taken off and you can use either a grunt tool that bolts to the cover bolt towers or one that has three pins that grab the spider arms, then the spider is removed (unscrewed) from the fixed sheave, then you can go ahead and remove the sliding sheave which will give access to the buttons.

we are both correct i guess, as the fixture i have, holds the primary upside down and grabs on the spyder. then the tool i have/made, has 3 pins that grabs in the 3 holes on the backside of the fixed sheave, and unscrews the fixed sheave.....i guess you could say it either way tho....unscrew the spyder and/or unscrew the fixed sheave. to each is own.

I would hate to see a "Newbie" make junk of a other wise good primary clutch by getting conflicting advice. Maybe he hasn't had the experience, like some, to make his own tools and has to go by what a manual out lines to do.
