Hello, I am wondering if there is a "cheap" way to upgrade the suspension on my 99 VMax 500 sx? I am looking to get a little more travel on my sled.
The sx model has a lot less travel (front and back) than the "regular" VMax of the same year, Is this just shock lengths or is the whole skid and front suspension different? Could I buy a longer shock and increase the travel?
I know that you can bolt another skid into a sled. It sounds like a lot of work and probably is a few bucks. Being an older sled I am not sure I want to get into that. I could sell the sled and take the extra $ for the upgrades and buy something else. I dunno.....
Any recomendations?
What would I expect for prices in Canada for a new Skid?

Look for a set of viper rear shocks. There are a lot floating around for not much money. Call some local yamaha dealers and see if they have any lying around. Then all you need is longer limiter straps and diiferent control rod spacers.
