M-10? Can I pull the rear shock, W/O Pulling the Skid?

The adjustment collar is bound up on the rear shock of my M-10.
I was wondering if I need to pull the skid frame out completely in order to get the shock out.
Has anyone tried this?

Disconnecting the top of the rear shock from the skid is the easiest way to get the skid out, so the answer is yes
