Commonly these 485's want to run around 7600-7800rpm., so you might be running a little slower
Any mods or anything to make you ask about top speed? As in, mabey something was done wrong and making you slower?

Yes it seems it would be running slow. Clean the carbs and check the linkage and cable settings. Do a compression test. Make sure the clutches are in good shape and the alignment and distance is right. Check to make sure you have the right drive belt.

in the tec pages it specs the top rpm should be at 6800rpm stock with engagement at 3300rpm or 2900rpm depending on model.

sounds like it needs a new primary clutch spring and the primary/secondary gone through with all worn parts replaced and the belt surfaces cleaned.
chased a bad primary spring on my enticer for 4 winters before i got pissed off and just replaced it, whitch fixed the problem i was having.
top speed sounds pretty close to what it is supposed to be though. rpms are off so there might be a bit more still in it.
