Check this out. Hey bluemonster1, you will hwve to get out the SRX and jump the bridge to come to the Niv again.
CBC News:
Manitoba Highways officials have given up trying to reinforce the riverbank around a major bridge that spans the Red River south of Winnipeg, and they now expect the bridge to collapse, CBC News has been told.
The bridge on Highway 210 entering St. Adolphe was closed Thursday as structural problems were identified.
On Friday one of the massive supporting piers shifted further, and it now seems the bridge is on the verge of collapse. People in the community of St. Adolphe were watching in disbelief as the nearby bridge — on a major transport route crossing the Red south of the Manitoba capital — continued to destabilize.
Bob Stefaniuk, mayor of the Rural Municipality of Ritchot said the bridge was built in the 1970s and appeared to be a solid structure of cement and concrete. Suddenly, it is about to fall down. The bridge carries major traffic across the Red River and connects two major north-south routes: Highways 59 and 75.
"I couldn't believe it that it changed that much overnight," said Stefaniuk. "It's what an engineer would call a catastrophic failure"

These are the pics I took yesturday.I think I'll take my Maxim and jump that bridge right into the gas station.lmao

those 2 pics aren't the same bridges Jeff that you posted.First one shows the bridge in a v pattern going down. The railings are different also compared to the 2nd pic. Also the thickness's of the sides are different. What bridge is the 1st pic from. The 2nd pic which is the correct one of that bridge does not drop in a deep v-pattern,sides,rails and all.Take a good look at the 2 up close..they are different bridges.

I suppose it is the same bridge. The neighbor next to the bridge told CBC that the spring ice was jammed up against that pillar, all the way up against her dyck. The ice was 3 feet thick plus, with the current and ice flow,it all pushed up against that side.I can see that doing something. Here is a close up pic for you. I had to literally jump on a log, float along side the bridge with out the security noticing me,and snap this shot.Luckily I had my night vision goggles on.
Some comments on the CBC site was as follows:
Lets have a Parade for the NDP ,and have them go along the bridge into town.
Some were saying road rage is picking up on St.Mary's road and wouldn't doubt a head on accident happening soon.
Other were saying lets get the old Ferry out of mothballs and have it put back in use.Believe it or not,but I do remember that Ferry. It was a scary thing. My dad used to take me on that Ferry to get across the river when I was young. It was slow and you had to wait for it to return to your side to pick you up.Then in the winter they can make an ice road across the river.Make sure their is a lot of sand on the climb up the banks...lolll
