Question for you guys,
I am building an exciter SX motor and am wondering if anyone has gotten any gains from removing one layer of the headgasket, or adding a base gasket and removing a layer of the headgasket? I am looking to still be reliable, and get a little more out of it. It does have a bender pipe.
Thanks for your time

i owned on for 15 years i not sure they are ported good in stock form i think you might get more by widining the ports but you would have to talk to someone who has done it

are you trying to rebuild a 93 Exciter II SX?
that motor I believe had different porting and higher compression than a std Exciter
if its a older Exciter there is a pipe mod you can do

Yea, it is an sx. I bought it blown up, never ridden one. How high of compression do these have?

Its quite high allready about 150psi.
OK, thanks. Guess I won't mess with it.

SamueLJackson has done a lot with the Exciter and SX Exciter engines. SX motor is right there on the limit with today´s fuel. Be very careful if you are going to put more compression to it. We have pistons to prove it
Many of the SX engines are seized due to the fact that they are high compression from the factory and owners still port and mod them without thinking the jetting / carbs enough. SX has bad rep here due to that fact. WIth enough testing and safe jetting mod SX motor is great, but still PIA to jet correctly for every day use.

THIS REMINDS ME OF GUYS THAT WANTED TO PORT AND CUT HEADS ON THE 77 SRX. WELL GUESS WHAT IT WAS ALREADY DONE . NEXT TO VERY SMALL KNIFE EDGEING, THESE MOTORS ARE AT THE LIMIT. AND IKE IS 100% CORRECT, DO NOT CHANGE COMPRESSION. THESE ENGINES HAD HIGH COMPRESSION STOCK. UNLESS OF CORSE YOU WANT TO RUN RACE FUEL. WHICH I DOUBT. BEST BANG HERE IS A AFTERMARKET PIPE LIKE THAT BENDER OR TWINS. 3:16 (yammie tony)
