hey, i got my pipes ceramic coated in spring 08 and since then they have turned to $h!t from my hood cable rubbing against the middle pipe, not to mention other things hitting the other pipes, so i decided i want to wrap my pipes with black header wrap. does anyone here have good how to tips for doing it properly and where i can get a good deal on a fair amount of wrap?
Thanks!

You can find header wrap all over, just check online and at your local auto parts store and compare prices. As far as method, start at the motor end. As previously stated put the wrap in a bucket of water and wear a pair of rubber gloves to keep from getting glass in your hand. Once you have a good wrap at the end put a stainless steel zip tie on it to hold it in place. Wrap overlapping about a half inch or so. Be sure to pull tight. Once you get to the end put another SS zip tie on. Then you set it aside to dry. Repeat...Repeat and you are done. I would recomend getting a header wrap paint to seal the wrap. It makes it more durable and a bit more resistant to water ruining it. You can usually find the wrap, ties and paint all together. I got mine at advanced auto when I did the pipes on my bike and went with 2".

Stock srx pipes cerramic coated.Did they work ok?I would sand the chips and touch them up you cant wrap them anymore then yamaha did or they will get 2 hot.But personly i have never tryed it. Move your cable anchor 2 the side of carrage higher and it wont rub anymore.I added a short piece so the hood would stay open.

well i want my pipes to look good, i got them coated for that reason.... and then after a 250 mile stretch of riding and refilling my oil i noticed the damage. i was pissed... i honestly do not think wrapping them will have any harm.
BTW: got my sled out of storage today.. started 2nd pull.

If you have your header/pipe coated you can wrap it with out any problems. The one question I have, is it still on the sled? IF so it will be kinda difficult to wrap. I did jet hot and then wraped. Saved alot of heat.

haha, i will obviously be removing the pipes from the sled when i wrap them... The dealership has 25 foot rolls for about 55 bucks, is 25 feet enough for 3 pipes?
thanks

If you wrap them, be sure to check your jetting. Wrapping them will probably require a little richer jetting. A friend of mine wrapped twins on an old v-max he used to have, and he said he had to jet it up. Just be aware to read your plugs to avoid a burn down.

buy the wrap on Ebay there is a million different brands and lengths. I wrapped my single pipe on my 98 formula z 670 b/c the stock wrap thing rotted off and after prolly 500 miles the pipe burned a hole thru the wrap...then I took it off and realized the piece of crap Ski-Doo had a hole in the pipe...so it wasn't any fault to the wrap...it kept the heat down very well and sounded good.
