I just bought an SX 700! Super clean, newer Camoplast track, studs, plastics skis and handlebar hooks. All for only $1300. I'm pumped!
I bought it as advertised, as a 1997 model. How can I tell a 97 from a 98???

Good luck and enjoy

Another question please:
What belt do you all recommend? Yamaha? After-market? What have you had best luck with on this sled?

I have been running ultimax.3 belts 6 years with good results lost 1 belt in 8500 miles, it had about 7000+ miles on it.

Yamaha belts are the only way to go they are the correct rubber compound for the clutches on your sled. Other belts don't work as good

8DN YAMAHA BELT IS BEST BELT OUT THERE. JUST A NOTE, ITS 8DN-00, NOT 01. 3:16 (yammie tony)

i tried running the ultimax 3 belt on my viper. blew within 300 miles. put the yammie belt back on, and still am using the old yammie belt as a spare...have new yammie one on it right now. threw the ultimax away and will never run one again. had trouble with them on my rev too. STICK WITH OEM YAMAHA BELTS.

will this 8dn-00 belt work on my pro-action chassis Mountain Lite?

The 98s have heated carbs. I've been using the newer 8dn 01. I think I had to change to number of shims on the secondary. The 00 belts are harder to find.

It would work, but you would have to adjust the clutching as it calls for the 89L belt which is softer. If you are running the 485 engine, then I would run the 89L. You don't need to squeeze the belt as hard, and that engine doesn't have that much power to begin with.bravo-guy said:will this 8dn-00 belt work on my pro-action chassis Mountain Lite?

The belt I looked up stated: 8dn-17641-01-00
It has the 01 and the 00 in the size. Is this correct?

The Vmax's graphics on the '98 are black instead of purple in '97 and the Proaction graphics on the suspension arms are black with yellow outline instead of yellow and purple outline.

Turk,
That was only on the "Spring powersurge units only" that you could get the Ohlins front shocks.
The standard units had the same alum.bodied KYB units w/red springs like all of the 97's.
**The 98's also came standard with the plastic idler wheels too, where the 97's had the older style aluminum units.
