Hey guys.
I have a 1976 SRX with a 78 440 motor in it. It is missing a tach cable and dimmer switch. I was told that I specifically needed a 76 tach cable and just purchased one on ebay. Is this true and why?
Also, I have no power to the headlight. I've followed the harness from the headlight back and and have found a connection port with nothing connected to it. Someone, a while back, told me that I needed a dimmer switch to complete the power supply. Does this sound accurate? And, do I need a 76 specific switch or will most any year switch work?
thanks for the help.

I believe that you would need a dimmer switch for the light to work.

INTRESTING ON TACH CABLE. 76 SRX HAD SMALL TACHS LIKE GPX / FIRST EXCITERS WHILE 78 SRX USED LARGER TACHS. SO YES 78 CABLE MIGHT NOT GO INTO 76 TACH. 3:16 (yammie tony)

length is wat you bought. the 76 - 77 ssr were much shorter. with some easy bends the longer exciter gpx cables will work also.
