can someone tell me the s# for the exciters from 1976 to 1981.
I'm looking to buy an advertised 1979 but the cowl and carb setup looks
like an 1977 stx.
thanks

Thanks for the help! Have some others?
Thanks for the help, I have four vintage sleds that I have been trying to identify the year of mfg. to order parts and got nowhere calling Yamaha.
My Exciter 440 has a tunnel number beginning with 8H6 which you helped me identify as a 79 mfg.
The SS 440 has a tunnel number beginning with 80R-002***.
The Excel V has a tunnel number beginning with 8K1-006***.
The Enticer 340 Deluxe has a tunnel number beginning with 8J4-021***.
I am about 18 miles south of Flagstaff and it may be a little while before I get snow here. Just trying to get stuff ready for this winter.
Does anyone know of a reference chart that is available to reference year of mfg for these machines. I think from the color schemes they are around 1980.
Thanks,
Tom
