viper problems aftre engine rebuild UPDATED 9/24

my buddy lost all the antifreeze and blew the motor on my 2002 viper.
I checked everything out and rebuilt the motor. new pistons rings gaskets. was able to salvage everything else. started the engine after the rebuild. Bled and adjusted the oil pump,bled the cooling system and had it running and ideling great. probably ran it for 20-30 mins 2-3 different times. stabilized the fuel and put it away for the summer, 2-3 months sitting in the trailer.
pulled it out this weekend to move some stuff around and it wont run right.
Once it is started it will only run with the choke half way on. take the choke off and it bogs/backfires and tries to die. i am noticing what appears to be oil on the plugs and it seems to be dumping oil into the exhaust also. lots and lots of smoke when it is running.
Anyone got any ideas or seen and issue like this?
any input would be appreciated.

If it was stored in a trailer it has went through huge temperature swings, especially if left outside.I have saw alot more gunked up carbs with this scenario as opposed to it being stored in a cool dark garage.

if you have to choke it, sounds like not enough fuel, maybe your pilots plugged up over the summer, stabil isn't always going to stop fuel probs when sitting

I'd agree here. Crappy fuel strikes again!!!!!!!
 
Sounds like bad gas and or running to lean air fuel mixture. Clean carbs well syphon out all your crap gas fill up your truck and start over.
 
check the carbs again to be sure. But dont overlook the fact that you have messed with the oil pump too. recheck to make sure the cable is set where it needs to be.
 
ok guys i took your suggestions and drained the tank of all the old gas.
I pulled the carbs and went through them. All of them looked real clean/no varnish or gunk. i could not see through 2 of the pilots. cleaned them all. cleaned out & reset the fuel screws.
Took the engine mount off over the oil pump for a good view of the pump.
I found there was excess slack in the cable. i also found that when i pulled the throttle the pump lever and cable moved fine but for some reason the lever was not returning to a fully seated/closed position. i applied light pressure to the oil pump arm and it popped into place, removing the excess slack in the cable. It appears to be working fine now. I think something was stuck and not allowing it to close fully. That could be why it was using so much oil.
spilled some gas so i could not start the sled tonight but should be starting it tomorrow or friday. will keep you posted.

I had to clean the pilots on both my SX and my Viper last year for the first time ever. Anyone think there might be something up with the gas we are getting?
