Have not even picked her up yet and have some questions. Under cowl on engine specs it says it is a 250cc and when I look it up here under 1989 year specs it says 340cc. Which is it? It has pull start and starts very easy however I know my kids and wife and should start looking for electric start. Would 340 cc starter fit? The sled is very very clean and and looks all original. Thanks

All Yamaha Ovation's came with the factory installed 340cc engine. Sounds like someone has installed a Yamaha Bravo 250cc engine in yours. The Bravo's engine were very good on fuel and easy starting. I don't think they ever came with the electric start as a dealer option.
It is all original. Don't think anyone has changed engine. I have seen other 340cc and it looks the same. I was wondering if displacement changed for different years. This sled is very clean one owner ( Dr. wifes' sled ). Sled is std model without speedo and e start was wondering if these are easy to fit up with both? Thank you!

If it's a 1-cylinder it's a 250. If it's a 2-cylinder it's a 340.
Great! It has two cylinders. How hard to fit up electric start and speedo or tach?

tac is an easy one as i posted the part # for one that runs off of the headlight coil awhile back. spedo, you will need to find all the mechanical parts to hook that up. should be some on ebay or your local salvage yards as the et250/300/340/400/410/ss440 took most of the same stuff as long as it was dash mounted.
should not really need the e-start as they start really easy but anything to keep the little woman happy is good. rule at our house was if you could start it you could drive it. i was pull starting a 78 et250 when i was 10 without the decompressor.

Don't know how old the kids are, are how small the wife is, but I'm with the, "If you can start it, you can ride it." These things start easy if everything is right and it shouldn't be a problem. Enjoy, they're a great sled. Treat it ride and you'll be able to have the grand kids riding it! Which is a good idea as there is no one making a sled like this anymore that kids can handle. G.

Starting for you wife should not be a problem. My wife has electric start on anything she rides - it's called my arm! lol

electric start system on ebay
Not to take away from anyone here but there is a complete electric start system for an Ovation on ebay now 125. Also search enticer on ebay that should come up with some systems. There was also a speedo for 15. I am personally covering over the speedo for my 9 year old. New drivers tend to look at the speedo and crash.
