I bought a 2000 SRX. It came with a can on it. I decided to put the stock muffler on it. I noticed that two of the joints leak. One leak is where pipe one goes into the muffler. It looks like it is 2-3 mm short and does not go into the flange enough. The second leak is where pipe 3 hooks onto the exhaust coming out of the head. It leaks enough that you can hear it. The graphite donuts looked not bad ( or so I thought). Question is: Do I need a couple of new donuts or did I do something wrong? There is not much wiggle room. I would hate to order new donuts if that will not solve it. The one for the header pipe is $24 but the donut for the pipe going into the muffler is $52 (ouch). Is there aftermarket donuts available?

Did you check your pipes for the rubber spacers that seperate the pipes. If they are missing it will cause your pipes to seperate from the box and from the manifold making it seem like your doughnuts are worn out Just a thought have a look!
pipes
Did you try adjusting the connecters on the end of the pipe. They may have moved them to make the aftermarket silencer fit. The ends of the pipes have a little adjustment adjustment to them.
