Hello,
I ordered a new shock(on the way) for my machine. I loosened all the bolts and am awaiting arrival of the new unit. Is this similar to putting a shock on a four wheeler? When I replaced that I just lifted the rear up until the holes lined up and had my son insert the bolts. Is it the same deal or will i need to compress the shock? I can't tell from the old shock, it is completely blown. Sorry if this is a basic question.

To get it into the sled without taking the rear suspsension out, your going to have to take as much of the preload of the spring out as possible and then try to put it in using the method you are talking about. Trying to put shocks in with the spring preload set is almost next to impossible unless you have a spring compressor that can compress the spring while it is on the shock body.
