(97 700 sx motor)
I recently removed my reed cages after summer storage to find the #1 and # 2 bottom ends with about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch deep of straight oil in the bottom of the crancase.
The handlebars were damaged last season so I removed them and took all wires / cables off of them pror to storage, is there a way that the oil cable could have let the oil pump get partially open for the oil to syphon through the pulse tube or something? If so, why do just 1 and 2 cyl. have the oil in them?

Next question, were the reeds on both cylinders in need of replacement?

They dont look to bad,(no cracks & sealing good) but I pulled the cages out to inspect and replace them. I didn't realize the oil was there until I tipped the sled up to replace a couple of poprivets in the bellypan and of course the oil ran out of the intakes.
