Thinking about getting rid of the oil injection on my race sled and just want to know what is the best way of going about doing this is.

Just remove the pump, and build a small plate to cover and seal off the hole. Block off all of the crankcase oil lines.

You don't have to worry about your oil pump failing, or screwing around with mixture. This way you always know how much oil you're getting. And, you can get rid of the jug to save a few extra pounds and make some room, or you could install a fuel spigot and use the oil jug as your fuel tank. Many options :)

Back in the day...I built/ran an extremely competitive 650 indy improved stocker that I ran on premix only. I removed the oil pump drive shaft from the case and ground off the drive splines[can't do this on a SRX as it drives the water pump]...put it back in to retain case volume, left the pump on with all the lines on so it would pass tech[had to have stock oil system]. I installed a 3 way fuel selector + used the stock oil tank for the Nitro Methanol that I switched to in the staging area and had about 1/2 gallon of normal fuel in the fuel tank for start up + shut down. This worked great until I switched to the 800vmax4.

Bearings for the water pump and oil pump shaft are not lubed by the fuel air intake system.. If you intend to leave the shaft in the cases you will have to lubricate these bearings using an external supply line.. We used a 3/8" tube run up the side of the engine with a plug. Top it up at the beginning of the day and your good.. Easier to remove the shaft if you can get away with not having a mechanical water pump or tech problems..

Dan is right on this. The oil and water pump bearings are completely sealed off from the crankcase. My race sled does not get any oil to the water pump shaft bearings, and has not had an issue for a few seasons. It's not to say that I won't run into a problem though....

You may want to consider leaving the Oil Pump intact on your SRX race sled. On my VMAX4 Drag sled I left the pump in place and functioning I just mixed a bit of Maxima Castor927 in the race fuel. I never had any reliability issues and the sled sure was competitive. Has anyone dyno'd the difference with or without a pump?

On a v-max 4 just the weight savings from removing the pump assembly is worth it.. LOL Those assemblies are huge!!!
