can anyone give me a starting point for a heavy hitter set up. i have a 00 srx 700 lake ported, stock pipes, mega power heads. i will be using the thunder products black primary, green secondary, mega power 56/40 helix.
i have 4 sets of wieghts i am going to try i have a set of 8dn-20, 8bu-10, and polaris 10-60.
ive heard the 8bu is a good short drag weight and the 8dn is more agg trail, but i would really like to try the heavy hitters.

Not trying to be a smartazz.... but have you done a search on this site yet ???
There are hundreds of posts and set-ups listed in these pages.. It will take you hours if not days to read all the posts on clutching. There are also set-ups in the tech pages.
Search posts by Turk also...he is the clutching guru.

which hh's do you have 48s or53s, if you have 53s i can give you my set up, should get you close but your weight, helix, etc, will affect it, you'll have to fine tune from there

The 8BU10 weight set up right is an excellent weight for top speed.. Very decent acceleration aswell.. We ran 119.5mph in 2000 feet with a stock 700SRX trail sled using these!!!

i have searched for setups but hardly found anything. im not sure what base grams they are. ill have to find that out first i suppose. i do know the use a special pin in the clutch because the bushings are way smaller than yamaha weights. i beleive the bushings are 6mm.

yep, makes sense. i was thinking 58/42 for some reason, which would have been the "M-5".
also, get yourself a digital gram scale off of ebay....they are only like $20. make sure it can go down to 1 decimal place at least....2 decimals tho is nice. also, we need to know what base weight your heavy hitters are, before anyone can give a decent ballpark.

i had a buddy weigh my weights and they are 52 gram base. it doesnt match up with any other HH because they have a hole drilled between the two screw holes.

i'd try it close to where i'm at, mine actually starts tailing off after 2000ft but that's all i was running so i didn't mind, without that gram+ you'd be close

you mentioned a smaller pin, mine reused the stock ones?

mine has that hole too. i believe its a hole that they put in, for fixturing purposes, when manufacturing the weights. i think its a dowel pin hole for location on their machining fixture.

that could be. but they list no 52 gram heavy hitters. it was set up with nothing in the hole and 7/16 bolts in mid, and 7/16 with a heavy washer in the tip.
I run the "Heavy Hitters" on my SRX as well with a base weight of 48.5, they have the extra hole as well. I run them at a total weight of 58.6 grams...with a "Team" secondary. This setup works great off trail + on the trail for short, under 1/4 mile drags but really lacks the legs on the long pulls...102 on GPS.[but it is a long travel/144",with reverse!]

you don't put any bolts or anything in that middle hole. its just there....ignore it. just put hardware in the heel, middle hole (hole closest to heel), and tip. when i ran the 48g H/H's, i ran anywhere from 57-58g total. i think i remember a 1/4" set screw in heel, like 4.1g middle hole, and 5.7g tip. i used the black H/H primary spring, w/green sec spring and 50/40 helix. i also used steeper helixs w/those weights.
