I just bought a new 1" carve track and before installing it, I drilled for 144 studs up the middle. My son says it was a mistake because it will stretch once in use and the studs will pop out of the now elongated holes. True?

new tracks will stretch to a certain degree, but your studs will be safe. the track manufacturers even offer predrilled tracks.

You will be fine, you can install the studs later. The hole will not elongate. After you run it for 50 or 100 miles if the track slips, give the nuts in the back 1 to 1.5 turns.

Or you can install the studs now. I've always studded brand new without issues. Agreed that the track will require tightening after 50 to 100 miles but it won't take much. I do like to run the cutter fast to couterize the hole which is also recommended.
I think the hole would have to grow 5-6 times it's original size for a stud to pop out which doesn't happen.

yeah they do sell a pre drilled 1" carve track.
put the studs in now. won't make a difference. tracks don't strech as much as they used to.
