Hey guys I pulled out my SLP pipes from the Viper I bought late this summer, Clutch side has a nice crack (bottom at the turn), my buddy is going to weld it tomorrow and then I'm going to clean and adjust the power valves (still need to learn that one) and put them back....

My question is should I worry about that crack....is it normal...? Could anything be going bad on that side of the motor, cranck seal ? Ring ? Have not had the chance to try the sled yet, but want to be ready and do all the necesary maintenance....

Thanks

Nick

I blew a big hole in my viper single pipe, I figured it was because of a hard flat landing. I welded it up and never had a problem with it again your case may be different!

take the spark plug out of the cylinder with the cracked pipe, roll it so the piston is down and look in there with a light, make sure the piston isn't eroding away on the exhaust side

Or it could be as simple as aftermarket pipes tend to be much thinner than the stockers. With the hot and cold cycles, snow hitting the warm pipes, and general vibrations and such it's not uncommon for pipes aftermarket pipes to crack on occassion.

Probably nothing to worry about. Weld it up and ride it after checking out some of the others concerns.

Thanks guys, the welder got it, will try and inspect as soon as I can ride it...

Only reason I was worry is because it was the clutch side.....

Thanks

Nick
