First does anyone have detailed blow up of these and setup info with the loacation of the various screws of the Smart Carb. Since I got this sled used I have confirmed even though it runs well it not performing as well as it should top end power and speed is lacking and always has. It does use quite a bit of oil.

I got a slightly used oil pump from a member two years back and only just found the info and now see the mark on the casing for the full trottle setting. Which if I under stood the info is the only setting. Nothing for low trottle point. Is changing it straight forward? Mounting and reconnecting the two oil lines or does the air need to but worked out as well somehow. I read a few years ago tha some members leaned out their thirsty pumps to get an average 50:1 gas to oil useage using old school calculations.

I cannot believe that knowone has serviced this carb or changed an oil pump with all the related threads I have read.
Maybe its too early in the season for the people in the know to be on this forum.

I believe there was a recall on the 600 twin pumps. We have a 97 XT 600 here that just would not perform regardless of what we did and we just couldn't figure it until the dealer told us about the recall and to replace the pump. Since it was getting oil, just a lot of it, we doubted him and tried to adjust to use less oil to no avail. We finally replaced the pump and it was a different machine, like night and day! It's a rocket now, so take from that what you will. Good luck. G.

Well first and formost I must say thank for the feedback and the specifics to this issue. I rather doubt the recall still is valid and will have to replace it on my own. I did buy a used pump pulled from a machine which is suppose to be good. I see where its installed and was wondering about how to replace it etc. I expect it is self priming et.

Thanks again

I don't recall anything about priming the pump, seems to me there was something, but I don't recall. Sorry. Talk to a dealer/mechanic is the best advice I could give you there. G.

most guys will run a tank of premix with a new pump and make sure it's working by watching the oil tabk level. Not sure if that pump has an air bleed but it should. I haven't had to deal personally with smart carbs or oil pumps (except to adjust) so I'm a little limited on info.

I may install the pump I have but not sure how the lines are held on. Certainly don't want them popping off during a ride. Heah heah that would not make for a good ride.
