Is the stock silencer the same on all 98-02? Or is the earlier ones louder maybe? Anyone?

they are all the same hookups, Not too sure on db rating!

Did some research... And the -98 can is sold for 621$ -99 602$
and 00-02 is 688$. So thay must have changed something!?
Somebody here must know if the -98-99 is louder?
Asking because i'am looking for just a bit more sound to my -00 =)
But dont wont to ruin the performance with a aftermarket can.

well for that price I would get aftermarket, WAY cheaper, a member on here, TURK, I believe, lost 2 mph with the bender can on an SRX, stock was 121 mph and with the bender he posted 119 mph, on radar, same day, so temp and snow conditions were the same, just swapped out the 2 silencers from what I read, hope this helps. Wait, I just realized you are not looking for a stock can! But the MPH stuff helped anyways, hopefully

As for the silencers being the same Db rating, all triples (single or triple piped) are a bit louder than twins, but Triples really growl with an aftermarket silencer.

My bet is you would lose a little with one of the older stock cans, as they were tuned with older technology with a little less hp engine..... bender is a nice can that sounds gooood.... I did not see loss in speed butttt....

All stock SRX silencers have the same sound & db's, Yamaha changed the pipes where they enter the silencer with what they call a "slip fit" on the 00-02's, maybe that is why the price difference between the can's or box in this case.

Allready have a mod. mbrp. that sounds great (little to loud+wrong resistense) but want it to be quiter and also need it to look stock so i dont get a ticket when i go to the swedish mountins =)
