i guess the viper i just bought has the hauck overdrive sheeve on it. i went to there site to reed a bit of information on it but they are kind of short on expaining it. is there anyone that know anything about this special sheave? is it something worth having or going back to the factory clutch? when i was looking at the sled i did notice that the belt rides pretty low in the secondary, i just figured the deflection would have to be adjusted or it needed a new belt. would this cause the sled to loose bottom end? i would think so

too loose of belt deflection, will cause the bottom end to be doggy and usually causes a bog on take off. the overdrive sheave from hauck is suppose to give you more top end, due to getting the belt to ride farther out on the primary clutch. i had one on my viper and didn't like it. i bet you have some rubber/black marks on the primary sheaves from belt slippage??

not sure havent ridden the sled yet. no snow yet
You must gear down to use the benifits. If you don,t your starting your sled in a higher gear ratio then stock.
Wouldn't gearing down defeat the purpose of the overdrive sheeve ?

on the roller secondarys they require a little more spring rate than ur botton clutch as they shift out quicker , but u get a way with less twist and they have quicker back shift , the best clutch for mountain rideing and the debate is still out on wiether they are any better than the button for straight drags i use them for both and like them a lot. The idea is to gear down and pick up more bottom end but because of the overdrive you keep the same top end.

remember, stock '98-'99 700 srx's have 23/37 gearing, while stock '00-'02 srx's have 23/38 gearing.
