I have a 1999 srx 700 W/ 2500 miles on it. It was in storage for 9 years and mid season last year it began blowing all lights ( dash , head, tail, stop ). I've changed all the voltage regulators , checked the wire harness under the engine for rub throughs, repaired numerous factory sloppy wiring connections , hand warmers which had rubbed through and shorted .With all of this done, still no head or tail/stop lights. The dash lights stay on but that's all. My next move is to check the stator for any defects. The most obvious short is the black wire at the headlamp shorted and melted.
Any ideas ????
Thanks E

Check the stator voltage output too. Make sure it is constant proper voltage and not spiking when idling, RPM increase/decrease, etc....

Since you replaced the regulators etc as outlined. Have the lights come on at all since? Do they come on and then both blow when you rev of drive it?
If they come on and then blow when you drive it. You should notice the lamps get especially bright before anything happens. I would double check the regulator for it. It may be defective, the old regulator may be good since being in storage won't cause it to fail. A bad ground on the regulator could also be the cause if it a shutting type. I don't know about the SRX here but my sleds power increases with the RPM and is quite low at idle.
Good luck, I am not sure how difficult it will be to get at the stator or what you can do there. It just a winding from what I have seen in the past.
