I am thinking of sledding this winter in the UP again, and am looking at which airports that can be flown into. Anybody ever done this? Air fare is a little pricey, but not too bad. I think $550 round trip. I imagine I will take a puddle jumper from detroit.

When You flying in? I am flying into pellston MI which is just 20 minutes south of the mackinaw bridge on January 14th. I dont go back till Feb-5th so plenty of time to sled

My cousin from Newberry flys out for work all the time. He rarely uses Marquette (1 hr to Muni) anymore because of the lost time of multi-stop flights to the larger airports. He flys out of Pellston (3 hrs to Muni) and even Green Bay (4 hrs to Muni), but mostly he uses Bishop (Flint - 5.5 hrs to Muni) or Metro (Detroit - 6.5+ hrs to Muni). Green Bay is the closest larger airport to Munising.

That said, it depends on which airline services where you are coming from. This can affect which airport you use.

Pellston eh? I am thinking mid February, longer riding days and usually deeper snow.

What is your airfare running?
$520 which includes taxes and fees. Keep in mind im starting out in new orleans and thats round trip

Well I need someone to pick me up at the airport, and they are doing it on the way up. So we really need to be along the way. I am thinking pellston would work.

Sleds are in my trailer at my uncles in St. Ignace..

I am even going to be lent a truck from a friend
