Buddy at work is selling his 2001 Silverado, 2wd, extended cab, shortbox, 4.8 ltr. v8, clean title for $1000!! Truck has 300,000 miles on it tho!!! Shifts firm..Family member he recieved it from drove 5 hrs to Chicago and back daily... I would get it just to pull the sleds and boat around...Used ebay motors for $500 in case the motor goes out on me.

well if you know that the vehice was maintained all its life there shouldnt be a problem, parts do wear out, my personal opinion is gm is a good choice, from my experiance they tend too last the longest and are reasonable to repair, verses the other big two havent seen them go as long and they seem to be more to repair

I have a 4.8 with 156000 on it now, I wish it would last till 300000 but the body will be one by then, ny loves its salt... lol... I'd buy it if I were you...

i agreee sounds like a pretty good deal i would go for it.

For $800, you couldn't go wrong. It looks like it was mostly highway miles, if he took care of it & changed the oil & other fluids regularly who knows how many miles or years you might get out of it.

Even if you need to go to a good auto salvage place and get a new(er) motor and transmission your still way ahead of the game.
Decent looking for that many miles.
I'd throw a decent set of larger rims and winter type tires on it and drop a limited slip in the axle if it doesn't have one already and enjoy your purchase.
