I have a 98 vmax 700 put a used stator in it lights start to light up when you pull it but spark looks weak. Will not spark enough to start. Cleaned stator before install pick up and flywheel. Am i wasting my time with used junk??? Or did i miss somthing.

Why did you replace the old stator?
I would look for shorts, its possible there is a short in the harness somewhere.

yes check the sparkplug caps
I changed it because the guy I got it from shorted out a wire on the stator. The wires for elc start shorted out under motor. Witch shorted out stotor.
Buy a new stator or have the old one rebuilt. Gone thru three used stators on my 97. I could have bought two new ones for that price already.
