Dropped the rear of the skid today, removed 4 rear wheels and the 4 upper wheels. They were a bit of a challenge to remove the top ones.Removed the transfer rods, drilled for grease fittings on lower mount on these so I can pump grease into the bushing. All bearings were ok,just cleaned them out and repacked.Noticed up front the first rear wheel I removed, the bearing was dry because the damn seal popped off on the inside of the bearing. It is repacked now and still good to go.A lot of extra work to do,but every single bearing on the sled has been checked, cleaned and repacked for peace of mind.Track re- aligned also and shimmed the bushings where the rods go over for a snug fit also and a few others at the same time.
Going to do the SRX 6 wheels tomorrow ,all the other bearings on the sled where serviced a few weeks back. Some snow is coming Friday, maybe something to ride the SXR in..we'll see.
Preventative mainteneance saves on bigger issues later.
come on baby ..snow already!!!

well got the SRX skid rear and upper wheels checked and re-packed.Actually they were all in good shape.Had to check anyways.Got the track aligned and ready to go.So every bearing has been looked at closely and now I can feel a little better when riding this season.Between both sleds,I only changed 1 bearing total..not to bad.

haven't gave the skid too much looking at yet what bearing did you use 00 SRX stock skid

I tear my whole machine down after each season, check pistons, check brakes, check gears and chain, grease all the skid and steering, add a mod, and I seem to paint it every year now it seems.

needaSRX. I only put the NTN ones in the rear wheels and drivetrain areas. They hold up pretty damn good.
sledsquatch...it is ok to do all this maintenance every year, but as I get older ..don't see myself doing it as often.

I am self employed/unemployed and I have lots of time on my hands, I also love tinkering and my wife hates me tinkering with her at midnight, so out to the garage I go.
Tinkering
Too Funny....
