Just got my summer aquisition up and running. Cleaned the carb emptiedthe tank. Fresh fuel and away she goes. Took it for a ride around the yard my first ride of the year! No snow but plenty of leaves. Some wax and a belt and plug and I'll be all set. What a cool little sled. Can't wait to put the sleigh behind it and take some pics for you guys. That will be tomorrows project

Sure is. How easy does yours start? Mines being a pain in the butt. I still need to put a new plug in it tho

I have a 77 GS 340 that runs fine, but was always a bitch to start, so I just put a priming bulb on it and it works like a charm. G.

Looking at your pic brings back memories, I had a 76 GP440, bought it new for $1750 Canadian. Wish I still had it, yours looks like it is in great shape, that 292 flies. Have a great winter.

I second the primer idea, the best thing you can do on any older engine.

I'll have to do that cause it's definitely moody. I also need a plug, the br8ev is discontinued I believe. What does everyone run in these ol timers? The replacement is some iridium plug???

Royal Distributing for the primer bulb. I can't help you on the plug. Good luck. G.

Great looking sled! I grew up riding a '76 GS 340 that looked very similar to that GP300. What a blast to ride as a youngster, I beat that poor little machine to death and it never failed me. I do remember it was a pain to start, seemed to always be on the days when I would fly home from school off the bus just dying to go for a ride!

What? You mean the cutter jockeys weren't asking to drive?

Actually they didn't I think they were just happy to be riding in the snow. Anyone familiar with these sleighs? I've seen cat cutters before but this is a yamaha one. Just wondering if it's a cutter an they just put yami stickers on it???
