02 SXVIPER fuel guage

does anyone know if they had a fuel guage problem on the 02 sx viper. my brotherinlaw brought his out of storage and his fuel guage dont work it just reads a 1/3 tank.

Viper fuel guage

Mine didn't work for almost two years. The dealer even tried to fix it. Finally in the spring of '03 it started working. Until then it read full all the time. I'm not sure but I think the float was hung up on something in the tank. Just reset your trip meter when you fill up and don't look at the guage.

Probably a bad sending unit. If you can get to the wires going to the gauge try unplugging it and it should go to empty. That'll tell you whether or not the gauge itself works. Am I correct on this guys?
