you guys using the ATF: Do you change it more frequently or just once a season? I ask because I already change the my oil at the beginning of every season using synthetic 75w90 Motomaster stuff (the bottle goes a long way for $10). I put on about 2500-3500 KM. Would consider the ATF if I felt sure it will run that long......

I'am with you crew, I run the same stuff (gold bottle). I used to use synthetic ATF in my drag sled, it was good for 500 feet at a time but for all winter long, I like 75W90.
Better stick with the gear lube-seems more suited to the application. Whats the advantage of using ATF?
Lighter weight-less drag?

I use Amsoil synthetic chaincase oil in all my sleds. I believe the ATF fluid will work fine also. Many manual truck transmissions and transfer cases use ATF as the lube. I just changed the lube in the transfer case on my Ford F250 truck. The manual specifies Mercon V ATF.
