have been reading some great clutching literature and learned it is recomended that there should be approx 0.025-.030 thou clearance between belt and primary sheaves when engine is off... Makes sense for good efficiency but how does someone change this adjustment.... I have torn down my primary, and split it, and when you reassemble it, there is no way to adjust this.... You just reassemble and torque it down with the grunt tool... At least I thought so..
any help is appreciated

You split the primary and machine some material off the inside of the spider (where it hits the sliding sheave). You can also buy offset split collars. Not something you do on a whim lol.

you can glue king pin shims between the spider and the movable shieth to close this up a little. when you do this it will lower engagement rpms. if you machine this area you will increase rpms as it will preload the weight. when you change the thickness of your split collar thickness you will close the gap to the belt. this also changes neutral and changes your shift curve the same amount. this means that if your weight is at 1/2 shift out and you remove .040 off your splits then the belt would be higher in the clutch than when it was stock. so keep in mind that if you change this you will effect something else.
