Sorry to post this here guys but I don't know about the ArcticChat site. Seems difficult to get any replies worth reading. A buddy of mine has an 03 F7 and is having some issues possibly linked to his ECU. Many people with the 03-05's are having their ECU's remapped to 06 specs. Anyone here know why that is? The only answer he is getting on the other site is 'more power and better on gas'. For some reason I find that hard to believe. I was thinking that maybe it had more to do with reliability. Thoughts??

It probably has to do with all of the above. Mapping affects everything, it basically mixes all things needed and how much of each, so it can improve on reliability, and performance by running it leaner or richer. But you should make sure that the machine is ported correctly for those settings. I would do more research on it before making any type of ECU modification, perhaps call D&D or Speed Werx, they seem to be the experts when it comes to AC sleds.

After some more research it looks like the 03's were very rich on the bottom and top end. I guess thats the reason for the change. The reason for the inquiry is that his sled is cutting out at 7000 rpm. Runs great up to that point and then starts cutting out or missing. After jumping on HCS it seems a lot of people are having this problem with F7's however nobody seems to have a fix. Anyhow, we'll have to keep digging. Sorry for all the Arctic Cat talk on the Yami site.lol.

It seems that the F7 is the sled that Yammites love to hate...especially the SRX riders. The 03 was the fastest of the firecat years, but had the most reliability issues. Alot of guys go to an aftermarket ECU (boondocker comes to mind) with the F7s but dont know much else.
