i did use the search and did not find what i was looking for. new to power valves used to ski doo rave valves. just picked up a 2000 srx and am going through it pulled one power valve today to see if they were cleaned like previous owner told me, that one was clean. i will clean the other 2 and adjust all 3 tomorrow. question is i noticed that there is no gap between the two valve halfs and was wondering if it stays there or returns to flush when the adjustment is done.

which two valve halfs would you be refering too??????

4 screw and the 2 screw or front of valve where cable goes in to, or the back of valve that is on the cyl. right now i have 0 gap here valve i pulled was clean with no pull trough. just wondering it the 2.5 mm gap stays.

there should be a gasket between the 2 bolt housing and one between the 4 bolt housing that bolts to the cylinder

Returns to flush...........
You loosen the two bolts and then use a spacer to have a 2.5mm gap(allen key), snug up the cable until it hits the spacers then remove spacers and tighten the two bolts again. Make sure you idle it down, so the servo returns to the right position.

thanks ryan ryan thats what i needed to know guess i would have seen tomorrow but nice to know before hand.
yes make sure your sevo motor is in the proper position when doing ajustments for valve clearence.........

I found it very easy to understand once i took the pipes and header off my srx and wifes viper. stick your hand up the exhaus port and with the servo in the full open position you should feel a smooth hole all the way to the pistion. You will know what i mean when you do this.
Might i add that your hand needs to be feeling the top of the port while doing the above task. both my sleds needed to have adjustments and my wifes viper only had 380miles on it. When i checked it.

thanks guys did it this morning all went well was not to worried about the doing the job, i just never done it before and wanted to know if the returned to flush. Just wanted to make sure the valves were right for the last 3 years, thats how long the other guy had it. all went well valves were clean with no pull through and yes once you do and see this job it is very easy did it over the morning coffee.
