76 exciter

Thinking of picking up a 76 exciter by me.All my buddies are buying vintage sleds and fixing them up and are going to have a few guy weekends up north on them and of course there all competive.Don't know much about the older sleds there is also 80 ss440 by me but like exciter better.
Any performance tips?Don't want to come in last on the yami,lol
Want to run pump fuel so it's trailable.Thank's

A lot depends on what sleds your buddies are riding. A 76 Exciter is a very cool sled and I would take that over an SS 440. Very reliable. Strong. Top end around 85 mph. Easy to work on. I would like to find a clean 76 Exciter here in Michigan.

How clean is the one you are considering and for how much?

preety clean. seat is torn.Hasn't ran in a few years carb needs to be cleaned.$250.00
