I recently purchased a 98 srx700 in excellent condition. The sled is completely stock other than a new 1" track. My best friend just purchased a 2005 f7 efi snopro that is also stock. I am curious if you think my srx could beat the f7 in a quarter mile shoot-out. We are both 230 pound riders of fair ability.

Truckkid42, an SRX is alot faster than a stock Viper. Make sure your jetted & clutched right and the power valves are clean and adjusted and track studded. The 03's are the ones to be careful with, the 05's were slower than the 03's. It might be close but IMO the SRX should win.

Theres a few things you can do to your 98 SRX to give him a good run. I would start in the chain case. The 98's were geared too tall at 23/37 with the thick 15 wide chain and gears. I would put in 13 wide 23/38 gears like the 2000 and up sleds and would also put a clutch kit in your 98

SRX vs F7 is a good race.

HATE THIS!!! WELL RACE HIM ON LOW SNOW CONDITIONS AND IN A LONG HAUL. 3:16 (yammie tony)
Out of the crate the original F7s were a true dominant stock class drag racer...I would say as good as it gets stock.[and I hate Cats!!!!] As soon as you moved to "Improve Stock" class they could be had. I raced an improved stock 700SX for years and did not have a problem with the F7s. The 700Sx we have still hammers my ported 2002 SRX but I'm workin on it!!!

I have a 2000 srx, its stock as far as the motor goes but it is tuned perfectly, and so is my buddies f7, its the best running f7 i have run into that dont have alot of money in it and is still trailable. i get him on the holeshot by a little bit, mid range he pulls it all back and then we are close until about 100 mph, then its like he hit a wall, no comparison my srx kills it top end. Neither sled has much done to it powerwise just cluching, and setting suspensions right... alot of a sled is in the setup, you should not have a problem.

he has a 98, not the sameI have a 2000 srx
he's asking about a quarter mile drag race, he wont get to where the srx shines yetclose until about 100 mph, then its like he hit a wall, no comparison my srx kills it top end.
that being said the one 05 f7 i ride with isn't nearly as potent as the 03 and 04 i ride with but that could be a fluke. i still think youre going to have a hard time in a 1/4 mile, but like yammiegod said just race him and see
If He is a good friend, use his F7 as a bench mark to get faster! Even if he beats you, start making changes and keep racing him until you see improvements. Its hard to tell if changes help or hurt you if you don't have a real world bench mark. You will find that a lot of times you have to backup to go ahead! Real world friendly racing is a lot of fun and you both will get faster to take on the guys you really want + need to beat!

GUYS SOMETHING THAT ALSO I WILL RUN BUY YOU GUYS. THE 2005 F-7 HAD THE MOST HP OF ALL. THAT WAS THE FIRST YEAR OF CATS DIAMOND DRIVE . AWSOME OFF THE LINE WITH BRUTAL MIDRANGE BUT THIS SCUFFED TOP END OFF. CAT INCREASED HP ON 2005/06 F-7 FOR THIS REASON. EXACTLY BY THE FAMOUS RACE BOX THATS CATS RACE DEPARTMENT HAD FOR THE 03/04 CAME STANDARD ON A 05/06. THE 98 SRX LIKE THIS GUYS DOSE NOT HAVE HP THE 2000-01-02 SRX HAS. REALLY A DEFFERENT SLED, THATS NOT SAYING 1998,s WERE NOT FAST, BUT I LIKE YOUR CHANCES BETTER WITH A 2001. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I got a few f7's to race this season... well see how i do... i got 2 stock ones... 03 and a 04.... then i got another one not sure what year but this one has light weight pistons and clutched....
From what I know about my 01 srx.... the clutching on mine is ment for trails... so i lost alot of top end... got clocked at 118 mph with 1inch track and 144 studs... now i got a 1.25 track with 196 studs....

yeah 03, 04 kills me but i get it after 110 on my speedo
there are 2 f7's locally here that we race all the time, With my brothers 02 Polaris 700 I give them a good run for there money they always get me by a sled or less in 660 ft race, I can get them on holeshot but they seem to go pass me by the end. I'll let you know how the SRX handle them one a 04 the other is a 05
