Just put in a SLP Can....i've got a few questions

I just took out my stock silencer and replaced it with an SLP can. I've got a few questions that I need help with...

1. I had to take out the rubber piece in the outlet hole in the plastic to fit it in. The new outlet pipe fills this entire hole. Will this melt the plastic around it without that rubber insert?

2. It leaks at the inlet of the can....the springs dont seem like they are quite as tight as they were with the stock one....do I need a new gasket or tighter springs?

3. This hopefully doesnt relate to the can but....last year my check engine light came on probably abotu 5-6 times and stayed on for just a few minutes and went off on its own. It did that a few times and never stayed on so I never got it checked out. When I started it up this year after putting the SLP can in, the oil light went on. its full of oil. I dont know if this is going to just turn off again like it did last year or if i should get it checked out. Anyone have any similar problems like this

1. I don't think it will hurt it, the pipe is fairly cool that far from the engine, not to mention rubber melts a lot sooner than hard plastic. I'm pretty sure it is only there to cut down vibration, and make the hole look better.

2. Mine did that also at first, but once I found the right position, it doesn't leak. My gasket is on it's way out though.

3. Check the wiring under the engine for any rub throughs. Do a search for more info on that, as it is very common.

Seeing as you are from WI I would like to take a second to tell you that the #1 reason we lose trails in our state is because of noise issues. Please stay off the throttle when near houses on the trail!

If this is a single pipe on the Viper, it should fit the stock rubber grommet. Did you get the installation instructions and follow them? Unless your engine mounts are shifted, or your sled is bent, the SLP single can for a Viper fits pretty good. Also your springs may be weak. You want to make sure it all seals including the pipe to the belly pan, or you will be down on power especially in deep snow.

I drop the can in the exhaust hole and seal it, then put the pipe in and seal it, and then put all the springs on.

For what it's worth the SLP can for a single Viper is pretty quiet. Sound level is similar to other stock sleds of that year. The stock Viper is the quietest stock 2-stroke I know of.

I bought it used.....no installation instructions. The outlet on the SLP can is larger than the stock outlet. It fits good with the rubber grommet removed. I will check on a new gasket or springs in the next few days.
