one carb "discharge/overflow hose (for lack of a better term) on a '97 v-max 4 is discharging gas .. other three are fine... what is causing this?? i know this a power valve site BUT THIS IS WHERE THE KNOWLEDGE IS THANKS

First I would pull it and see why the needle is sticking, or if it is only pushing fuel when running, the float level is way off.

Pull carbs and clean, Needle is stuck or dirt causing it to stay open or jets clogged and fuel has to go somewhere. My RX1 did the same thing! I used fuel additives for summer storage but with the great fuel these days you must clean carbs anyway to be safe! Good luck.

Those are called the "Carb Vent Lines" You must have a float needle stuck open or a stuck float. All it takes is a little dirt in the float needle + seat to cause this so like everyone says...clean the carbs. Pay special attention to the choke plungers as well as they can contribute to this problem. If this problem has been occurring when the sled has been sitting unused its time to have a look at the fuel pump as well.
