Just picked up a 02 SRX and it only has 2600 original miles on it, what is the easiest and best way to make sure the power valve cables are not pulled through the valve's? They should be fine I would think, but I just want to double check them before I run the sled for the first time. The guy who had the sled before me had it for 3 years and never cleaned the carb's or valve's!
He did run Amsoil full synthetic though so I am hoping they look fine. Thanks for any response's in advance. ;)!

Definitely take each power valve assembly apart, clean the valve and the opening in the cylinder. Reassemble and adjust them. That way you know you are off to a good start. Stuck power valves = PIA repairs. Also, clean the carbs. The tech section of this site has instructions on cleaning the power valves and carbs. Good luck with the SRX, I am sure you will be very happy with it!!

WTF does running amsoil have to do with ANYTHING? Please explain???

Amsoil was the worst oil i ever used for gumming powervalves

Dam dude, whats with the "WTF" in the question? you can't just ask in a simple manner you have to throw in a "WTF"! :o| I don't care if it is Amsoil, Yamalube, Klotz, all I was refering to is he ran FULL SYNTHETIC and hopefully this would help lubricate the valve's better, so they would not be as dirty and help run a little cleaner then running normal oil. Thats it, everyone knows running synthetic over regular oil is a better way to go. I plan on right now running the Yamalube semisynthetic because I have been running that in my 2 other sleds and have had NO problems with them. It does not smoke or smell that much, but I am sure someone will tell me what oil I should be burning in it. It will not be Amsoil though, I am not a huge fan of the smell......... ;)!

Sorry if I came a little STRONG with the WTF.... People praise amsoil like it's something spectacular.... It PISSES me off when people praise a company like that.. It's kinda like supporting YAMALUBE (citgo) after they funnel MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to try and OVERTHROW our government and OUR COUNTRY..... It's a LONG STORY with MANY AVENUES to cross.... SKIP AMSOIL !!!!

Wow...this goes deep. Holy conspiracy theory! I gotta look over my shoulder every time I buy oil!!!!!

No Problem nosboy, I have heard all the crap about all the oil's and was running the Yamalube semisynthetic before I had heard all this stuff, so let me ask you, What oil do you use in your sled or sled's? I want to run either a semi synthetic or full synthetic, (to keep pwr valve's clean) but for sure do NOT want something that smells as bad as that Amsoil stuff. I drove behind a bunch of Blair Morgan wannabee's for about 5 miles and they were all burning that stuff, by the time we pulled around them at an intersection I was just starting to get my breath back, I hate that stuff and will not use it. Let me know what you recommend. ;)!

Nosboy, never mind about the oil, I clicked on the link in your signature and was reading for an hour! Let me know what kind of Klotz I should be buying and I will for sure give it a try...... ;)!

NOSBOY. I am not sure if you understand the relationship between internal cumbustion engines and oil so I am going to explain it to you. The deposits that form on the valves, rings etc are not a direct product of the oil they are a by-product of the combustion. If your engines are tuned properly than all this nonsense with valves sticking and carbon deposits WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM. Also, the additives in the oil are meant to maintain the cleanliness of the engine but if your engine is not tuned properly than the detergents can not keep up with all the deposits that will form.
YAMANATOR. If you don't like the smell of burning oil than head over to the 4-Stroke side. If you are intent on running a 2-Stroke snowmobile with powervalves than do yourself a favour and use Amsoil.

I had my SRX,s tuned right on the edge with jetting & clutching. With the best amsoil product they made I still had pull outs every 1000 miles. Sleds were ran hard. Ran the best gas/best oil I could buy. Jetting was on the edge...actually took out a cylinder/head /piston once!

Guys really!!! How did a thread about how to check pull throughs turn into this oil thing again. Its getting to be tough reading. I thought this discussion got thrown to the dog pile. But then again my opinion means little.

Don,t you think if there was a fail safe way to prevent pull-thru powervalves it,s worth a mention. Been der dun dat tried every fuel/oil combination since 1998 & still get pull thru,s!
