happy to know that ill let the amsoil for someone else ...
Netefrog said:NOSBOY. I am not sure if you understand the relationship between internal cumbustion engines and oil so I am going to explain it to you. The deposits that form on the valves, rings etc are not a direct product of the oil they are a by-product of the combustion. If your engines are tuned properly than all this nonsense with valves sticking and carbon deposits WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM. Also, the additives in the oil are meant to maintain the cleanliness of the engine but if your engine is not tuned properly than the detergents can not keep up with all the deposits that will form.
YAMANATOR. If you don't like the smell of burning oil than head over to the 4-Stroke side. If you are intent on running a 2-Stroke snowmobile with powervalves than do yourself a favour and use Amsoil.
Whatever, go to the 4 stroke side yourself and read some of my post over there, I have had 4 4strokes and 2 of them were supercharged! I love the 4 strokes and when I can afford to go back to one, I will. I live in Michigan and am in Automotive.........nough said..

Sooooo....Would this be a bad time to ask what causes the cable to come undone from the powervalve in the first place? I have owned a 02 SRX for 3 years now and every 600 miles or so I pull the valves to see how they look and every time I have at least 1 cable not connected to the valve. I am checking the adjustment by the service manual. What gives?

do you? by your post i'd say no.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

youre burning the oil you use in a 2 stroke therefore affecting the by-product of the combustionnot a direct product of the oil they are a by-product of the combustion
i don't care how PROPERLY TUNED your engine is your still going to have powervalve probs if you don't maintain themIf your engines are tuned properly than all this nonsense with valves sticking and carbon deposits WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM.

kimplex blows

I wasn't suggesting that people shouldn't clean and maintain their powervalves, all I was saying is that poorly maintained engines do play apart in PV failure among other things including poor cumbustion which results in carbon deposits.
I wasn't trying to come off as confrontational or aggressive and if I did I appolagize.
You really don't have to explain it to me,, in fact, I've been explaining it to people for TWENTY FIVE YEARS already!!! I Didn't fall off the turnip truck YESTERDAY.. I have a BUNCH of degrees from Auto Diesel Technology to a BS in Chemical Engineering!!!! I could write a book on the relationships!!!Netefrog said:NOSBOY. All the pull through valves I have don't " PULL THROUGH", they "WEAR THROUGH"

I have run nothing but yamalube in my viper, 5800 miles. Never have cleaned the valves. Last winter i pulled out one valve to check it and see if they were in bad shape and needed a cleaning, it wasnt very dirty or gummed up at all. i touched it up and put it back in and ran great all last season, no problem! 7000 miles now!
YAMALUBE!!!

Checking for pull throughs/wear throughs
I just got my first SRX this year.....its a 99 with 3500 miles. It was well taken care of as well. When taking them appart to clean and chek them, is there any wrong way to inspect them that I could break something? Anything I should be careful with?

heres how you adjust them
http://totallyamaha.com/snowmobiles...ng Power Valves/Setting Your Power Valves.htm
heres one cleaning method
http://totallyamaha.com/snowmobiles/aaTECH/Exhaust%20Valves%20(1).htm
do one at a time and make note of top and bottom so you dont put in upside down and you'll be fine

To the OP,,,,
the only sure way to know is pull the pv housing and LOOK,you cant tell just by pulling on the cable from the servo side, why you ask? because.... there's a return spring #22 in the pv housing that gives false tension on the cable if pulled,i.e you'll still feel tension with a pulled through valve.

Its a 15 min job for me, i do it every 500miles, powervalves need only a wipedown, i use yamalube semi synthetic, too expensive to be buying powervalves when its so easy to service them!!
