Crank Discoloring

I have a 2000 MM crank that was welded and trued back in 2004 by Unionbay. When I dissassembled the engine for porting I noticed that my crank on the PTO and Center have a heat discoloring down by the bearings. All of the bearings are tight and everything else looks great. Is this normal, Or do i have a problem.

None of the welded cranks I've seen have been discolored that bad. I'd be calling union bay in the morning to see what they have to say.

I found a thread on this forum that said that that coloring was normal, something about the may the crank is assembled? Anybody shed some light on that?

Thats normal from welding even on the factory units, no cause for alarm.
