Does anyone bother using conventional non synthetic oil for break in after a complete engine rebuild? There was a time when synthetic oil was frowned upon for breakin but even the new sleds come with synthetic nowadays.

i break-in my engines, w/whatever oil i'm going to be runing thru it normally. on my banshee, moped, and kx250, i use amsoil dominator from day 1. works fine. i don't buy the hype about synthetic oils not allowing an engine to break-in fully/properly. my .02

Break in
Let it warm up and do some good HARD pulls on it. Dont over rev it, that'll give you the best ring seat.

It just takes longer to break in an engine with syntheic, the rings will take a seat but don't expect it to happen as quick as an engine using conventional oil.

Oh and snow
I wouldnt just let it idle though, Id wait for snow for a good break in.

exactly!!!

i'm never afraid to go out and go WOT the 1st time out w/it. you need to put some good loads on it, to help w/ring seal as well. i hate how the owner's manual says to not go like 1/2 or more on first 3 hrs and then this and that etc. that's bull crap!! just go out and drive it like you would normally drive it.
