I have a '95 VMAX 600. Last winter it quit suddenly and when i checked for spark I found that I had no spark on either plug. I had no previous sign of a problem. I did hit a bump a couple of hundred feet before it quit but nothing too significant.
Anyway, i have tested the magneto (black and brown wires) for resistance and it shows 640 ohms. The manual says it should only be 310 ohms +/- 10%. What does a high resistance imply? if the mag was sending out too much power, could it have fried the CDI?
I have done quite a few continuity checks on the wires in the ignition system and have found no problems so far.
Thsi is getting very frustrating so I am open to any suggestions anybody may have. i appreciate the help...

Have you check the CDI resistance against another?? It could have fried it and it sounds like that stator may be toast....I would call a dealer on this one. Try Larry at North Country Yamaha 715-453-2626 he has done stator checks and may be able to send you in the right direction.

...consider checking your kill switch as well, ...try bypassing it.
